Instagram's exact dimensions, applied to a whole batch

Instagram compresses and re-crops photos that don't match its recommended dimensions, which is why getting the size right before you post matters. FrameBatch ships with Instagram's current recommended presets built in, and — unlike resizing one photo at a time in a design tool — applies your chosen preset to every photo in a batch in a single pass.

Portrait Post1080 × 1350 · 4:5

Instagram's recommended feed format — takes up the most screen space in the feed.

Square Post1080 × 1080 · 1:1

The classic square feed post.

Story / Reel1080 × 1920 · 9:16

Full-screen vertical format for Stories and Reel covers.

How to batch resize photos for Instagram

  1. Upload your photos, then open the Social tab.
  2. Select the Instagram presets you need — Portrait Post, Square Post, and/or Story/Reel.
  3. Preview how each photo will crop for the preset and adjust if needed.
  4. Export the batch and download a ZIP with every photo resized to the presets you chose.

Instagram image size — FAQ

What is the current recommended Instagram image size?

For a feed post, Instagram recommends a portrait 1080×1350 (4:5) image — it displays larger in the feed than a square post. Square posts are 1080×1080 (1:1). Stories and Reels use a full-screen vertical 1080×1920 (9:16).

Can I resize a whole batch of photos to Instagram size at once?

Yes — select the presets you want (Portrait, Square, or Story/Reel), upload as many photos as you like, and FrameBatch resizes the entire batch and exports it as a ZIP.

Will my photo get cropped to fit the preset?

FrameBatch crops to fill the target aspect ratio by default so there's no letterboxing, keeping the center of the photo in frame. You can preview each preset before exporting.

Does this work for Reels covers too?

Yes — the Story/Reel preset (1080×1920, 9:16) matches the full-screen format used for both Instagram Stories and Reel covers.

Can I resize for Instagram and other platforms in the same batch?

The Social tab also includes WhatsApp and Facebook presets, so you can prepare one set of photos for multiple platforms without starting over.
